Help To Curb My Cravings
Cravings are a form of emotional eating and can be a major obstacle in losing weight, as most people struggle with insufficient willpower when trying not to give in to their intense desires for food. If you can curb cravings for food you will find it much easier to lose weight and promote fat burning.
Once you have a thought or image about a particular food, your brain rapidly creates a desire for it based purely on your emotional association with that food. Chemicals in your brain then cause a cascade of reactions to occur making it virtually impossible for you not to act and eat the food.
Thinking of the feelings associated with actually eating a delicious slice of your favourite cake further reinforces your cravings.
Another cause of cravings is low blood sugar levels. If you are dieting then more than likely you are restricting your food intake. This can cause your blood sugar levels to plummet very low which in turn causes cravings. This is your body’s attempt to bring your blood sugar back to normal levels.
It is well known that cravings occur purely because your body is demanding the food it lacks and needs. You may well have experienced the cravings pregnant women have.
Fortunately for us, there are simple proven techniques that can easily help you to instantly and effectively control your cravings and stop overeating at any time.
A really useful tip is to pause before eating the food you crave. Consciously waiting may allow the craving to reduce in intensity.
To get your cravings under control it is also helpful to eat regular meals, avoid skipping breakfast or lunch, eating the right foods a little and often including complex carbohydrates, protein, fruit and fibre. Avoid the high fat and high sugar foods which will cause your blood sugar levels to fluctuate dramatically.
Alternatively, you can also try to get your craving under control by immersing yourself in another activity. If you do some active exercise your brain will release the ‘feel good’ hormone so you shouldn’t need to eat food just to feel happier.
The very best solution however, is to alter the way in which you react to your thoughts about food. In effect treating the cause or the underlying reasons behind your cravings.
